The Journey Begins

This pattern was designed for a friend of mine who is a fairly new knitter and knows only knits and purls. It gathers interesting yet easy textures using only these two basic stitches, and features detailed instructions on how to create this piece. The result is this lovely cowl which looks much more complicated than it really is – a great way to impress your friends even when you are a beginner!

This pattern is beginner-friendly: if you can knit and purl, this cowl is for you!

Required materials:

Yarn: 300m/150g of DK weight yarn – I would recommend using a solid or semi-solid colour so that the textures show even better!

Needles: 5mm needles, either straight, double pointed or circular; whichever you feel most comfortable with!

Gauge: 19 stitches x 13 rows for a 10x10cm lil’ square

Finished measurements: height = 36cm / diameter = 64cm

The pattern includes instructions for knitting this piece flat or in the round, in English or French. Make sure to use the right file!
The different textures are both written and charted, so that you can choose what is clearer for you!

Come along friends, your knitting journey awaits!
