Creative Journal 01

Hello dear friends,

As august goes by, I have noticed that it kind of feels to me like the end of the year – or rather the upcoming start of a new year. It is still summer, but you can see the first hints showing that autumn will be here soon, and this sparks so much creativity! As I find myself with my motivation depleted during the warmer months, the perspective of chillier days coming back makes me want to create all the things, to get ready for the autumn cosiness…

This year I probably have more ideas than ever, along with the strong will to bring them to life. As some will have to be kept for later, I have high hopes for others which you might see quite soon. Spoiler alert: this autumn, there will be socks! I am working on a couple of sock patterns that will hopefully form my first ever “mini-collection”. I am still working on the first samples and the written instructions; as soon as these are done, both patterns will be looking for testers! The call for testers will be announced on my Instagram, so make sure you’re following me there if you don’t want to miss it!

When I need a more mindless project, here is what I work on: a pair of handspun socks! There is about 150g of this steampunk-ish yarn, spun from a mix of many different wools with various textures and colours. It is a bit thick and thin, and I love watching every stitch come to life, each one different from the next. There is some kind of magic happening when working with handspun, right?

Once these several knitting and designing projects are done, I will probably come back to an old unfinished cabled sweater, and work on some more pattern ideas (there are so many!) for this winter. But for now let’s enjoy all the summer things before they are gone – including the sight of this butterfly-bush buzzing with bees (unfortunately none of them agreed to be on the picture)!

Thank you so much for stopping by ; until we meet again, I wish you all the best!
